GU Heritage Retail Ltd is the University of Glasgow’s retail company. The GUHRL team runs the University Gift Shop, the Hunterian Art Gallery Shop, the University’s Online Shop, and supplies University departments with branded merchandise. We work hard to provide welcoming shops and excellent customer service, as well as a creative and supportive working environment for each other.

The company has a turnover in excess of £1 million annually and all profits are donated to the University. There are currently around 14 members of the GUHRL team depending on the time of year.

We are currently recruiting for two maternity cover posts:

Merchandise Manager – Maternity Cover – 3 days per week – Commencing end of March 2020.

Salary range £20k to £21.5k pro rata

Our Merchandise Manager looks after branded merchandise orders for the Services, Colleges, Schools and Institutes of the University. They also take care of orders for conferences and events happening across campus. The Merchandise Manager responds to customer enquiries, finds the best items to fulfil the customer brief, gets quotations, co-ordinates artwork and ensures that final proof and end product are correct. The position requires an ability to work with colleagues and clients across all levels of the University and beyond. E-Commerce Manager – Maternity Cover – 3 days per week – Commencing end of June 2020.

Salary range £20k to £21.5k pro rata

Our E-Commerce Manager takes care of our online shop, technical changes to our internal Merchandise Portal, and our social media. The online shop is built using Shopify so experience of the platform will be essential, alongside good skills for MailChimp, Adobe creative programmes and product photography. Although customer orders are fulfilled by our E-Commerce Assistant the E-Commerce Manager may need to take the lead in dealing with any customer experience issues.
